Smitha Mallaiah, BS, DYSc
Mrs. Mallaiah is a Mind-Body Intervention Specialist in the Integrative Medicine Program at MDACC. She has studied therapeutic yoga from Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana – VYASA Yoga University Bangalore, India, and has been teaching therapeutic yoga for specific aliments and the general yoga for over 10 years in India and the United States. Her deep understanding of yoga practices and their effect on the body, combined with principles of yogic philosophy instills great hope for her patients and students to benefit from her expertise. She teaches the various courses including “200 - Yoga Instructor Certification” at VYASA - Houston
At MD Anderson she is the principal yoga instructor for the NCI funded grant of yoga for women undergoing radiotherapy for breast cancer RO1 Vivekananda Yoga study currently underway.
